Great family restaurant. Right up the hill from downtown rochester. It has good food and won't have to fight for parking like other places downtown.

Gold Star is not fancy - but they have good food and service. They have a Greek / American menu with a lot of options. And most days - extra specials on the menu. It is family owned and you can tell they take pride in their restaurant. They have free wi-fi for their guests

While Gold Star isn't fancy, it provides good food cooks fresh. I have only visited Gold Star for breakfast, and it's very good. I love that their hash browns are not shredded but rather home style. The interior of the restaurant is very clean and well-maintained. The servers are very friendly as well. The lunch and dinner menu looks good, so I will have to return to try more than just breakfast.

Some new friends invited us out to lunch & this is there regular place, which we have passed many times. So we met here for lunch today & were very pleasantly surprised ! Why surprised you might ask, Well as my bride said the exterior of the building & the sign are not that appealing/outdated. BUT the inside is clean, bright, comfy & modern! Plus the menu is diverse & very reasonable. I ordered the Gyro /Kabob Combo with rice , lemon rice soup pita & salad [Greek Dressing was Fabulous ] for $9. Was our first time and definitely will be back Looking forward to trying the Fried Chicken Dinner for $8 [ 1/2 fried chicken & sides ] Also very noteworthy was our charming & efficient server Donna

Gold Star is a family owned restaurant that has been in this location for a long time. The food is great, the prices are very reasonable, and the staff is always friendly. We take grandma here a lot and the owner is very nice and the waitresses are very patient with grandma as she basically makes up her own meal. :) The owner is always there and friendly to all his guests. I enjoy eating here and will continue to do so. If you have not been to Gold Star, I recommend that you go at least once. You will return again and again.

Great Bfast!! Would have given 5 stars but the hours are not great. A few times during the week about 7-9 pm wanted food and they were closed. They redid the inside which looks awesome! The owner is great. Ask for their chicken chili-it's the best!!!!

Gold Star Family Restaurant is a local favorite! If you are an out of town-er or even a local looking for a good meal. This is the place! It is located a 30 second drive from Downtown Rochester. It is very family friendly! Serves breakfast all day! Daily specials & Early bird specials. Most of the meals are inclusive- include choice of side and choice of salad or coleslaw, some even with dessert! They offer traditional greek dishes and some american favorites burgers, fries, etc. Personal favorites are: Shish &Chicken Kabob and their rice pudding! Also good are the Grecian Style pork chops. Their dressings! The ranch & greek always tastes better here than anywhere else! They are very sensitive with food allergies- probably because the owner himself has a shellfish allergy. The staff is friendly and helpful with recommendations if you cannot decide! They have many regulars which they know on first name basis. It has that small town feel where everyone is welcome. Potion Size: Medium-Large. We almost always leave with leftovers! Beware! Sunday mornings are EXTREMELY BUSY! Usually a line out the door- rain or shine! While the food not be over the top exciting, typical diner & greek fare, the experience and price cannot be beat!

Sure, the name is super cheesy. But I give this place four Gold Star's for their breakfast! I've only been here for breakfast. But I think breakfast is their speciality! I had a short-stack of pancakes. Short-stack = 4. Light and fluffy and yummy! My dad ordered eggs overeasy, ham, hashbrowns and toast. His eggs looked like they were cooked perfectly. I am not a fan of ham (i know!) but it looked good. We both ate every bite!

This was my first visit here. I don't know why I haven't stopped here before - I've past by it a ton of times. I snuck in at 10:58 - just in time for the breakfast special. No problem according to my server Donna. My food arrived soon and was exactly as I ordered. (A challenge at some places I've eaten in the past) Well prepared and looked appetizing. Given it was breakfast, but it is the most important meal of the day - even though I waited until 11:00 to eat. The interior is comfortable and updates. I'm a new fan - I'm sure I'll be back soon!

My grandmothers suggestion, meeting her for lunch on Sunday noonish close to her house. She is big fan of Gold Star's " easy parking "and when I pulled in I would have to agree, huge lot and it was pretty full. Inside was smaller than I expected and the place was slammed, Nana had already secured a booth so seating was not an issue. Service was excellent, food A-OK . Ordered 2 waters and 2 cokes , waitress came back with one coke promising the rest once some more glasses were washed. That happened about 5 minutes later For lunch she ordered a Reuben and myself a couple of coney dogs and we shared a FF. The Reuben was just a few strips of corned beef and a lot of sauerkraut , the coneys, ok hot dogs and a lot of chilli. Bottomless refills on the pop a plus. A typical Greek Resturant , solid food, nothing fancy . Well priced, our lunch was just under $14.00
